Hello!
I'm Anja. My family calls me Anouli which is my Greek nickname. Although I'm not Greek... well, my family background is quite crazy. However, my art is rather "straight".
Reducing complexity to the essentials - that's my way of understanding our complex world. My minimal illustrations and prints mostly focus a highlighted detail of a scene, with as little distraction as possible. Vivid but clean compositions with very few elements fascinate me as this implies that decisions for the most important and favourite aspects have been taken.

Among my work you will find Mediterranean and nature-inspired motifs. Preferably in some kind of abstract setting and often with a humorous twist.
In the course of time, I moved from mostly digital drawings to a mixed media technique. To create more deepness and a handcrafted texture I especially love to block print my illustrations or to work with a paper cut technique. Combining these with digitally designed parts or adding details with pens creates a special and vibrant look and feel.
